Description
Some designs happen almost by accident, and this is one of them. I originally made this necklace as a one-off while developing my new pearl collection, intending it to remain a Workshop Original. But I loved the contrast between the bold sterling silver chain and the soft freshwater pearl so much that I simply couldn't stop at one.
At the centre of the design sits a genuine freshwater pearl, nestled within my signature oxidised sterling silver setting. Suspended from the polished T-bar toggle clasp, it creates a striking focal point that feels modern, architectural and effortlessly wearable. Inspired by the clean geometry of the Art Deco era, it's a necklace that makes a statement without ever feeling overdone.
The substantial 5.6mm rectangular trace chain gives the necklace real presence while remaining beautifully comfortable to wear. At 16 inches, it sits neatly around the neckline, making it equally striking worn alone or layered with longer chains and pendants.
One of my favourite things about this design is its versatility. The toggle clasp isn't hidden away at the back. Instead, it becomes part of the design. Wear the pearl at the centre for a classic statement look, move the toggle slightly to one side for an asymmetrical style, or fasten it at the back to let the bold chain become the focus. One necklace offers several completely different looks.
Every necklace is handmade by me in small batches using traditional silversmithing techniques. I individually select each freshwater pearl for its natural beauty and unique character before setting it by hand. Because every pearl is naturally formed, no two necklaces are ever exactly alike.
