The fan is the focal point of this Art Deco-inspired design. I originally carved the concertina shape by hand in wax before casting it in solid sterling silver and incorporating it into the ring. Each facet catches the light differently, highlighting the clean ridges and giving the design plenty of movement and texture.
The result is a silver statement ring with a strong geometric feel, but one that's surprisingly easy to wear. The fan shape measures approximately 15mm across, so it has enough presence to be noticed without taking over your hand.
I love the way the design sits somewhere between vintage-inspired and contemporary. It has the bold geometry you would expect from Art Deco style rings, but the clean lines and solid silver give it a more modern feel.
