About a week ago I took a big step and left my part-time job as a waitress and became solely self employed for Louy Magroos… HURRAY!
It’s something I have been harking on about doing for a long time but I have only recently got the courage to step away from a guaranteed pay cheque every week and put all of my time and effort into my jewellery business.
I don’t quite know how I feel about it at the moment, it’s scary without a safety net if I have a quiet week, but doing what I am doing now is all I have ever wanted to do. I’m not rich but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I worked as a waitress at the same restaurant through college, university and the early stages of setting up my workshop. 8 ½ years of working days being creative and nights running around waiting tables, as much as I hated it at times, I grew up and made some great friends there, and more importantly learnt some very important life skills.
A manager of mine always jokes that when I first started working, I was extremely shy, went bright red when anyone talked to me and wouldn’t say boo to a goose! I didn’t stay that way for long that’s for sure, even if they wished I had sometimes.
Being a waitress, you have to deal with a hot kitchen, juggle 10 things at once, talk to and charm customers, manage your time, deal with complaints and problems, and deal with an odd grumpy chef here and there too ;-)
I pride myself that I offer a brilliant customer service at Louy Magroos
, I know how to deal with problems quickly and understand how to make customers feel important and at ease when parting with their hard earned money. I honestly don’t think I would know how important this is or how to do it if I hadn’t spent so many years as a waitress.
So for that I am thankful, but I have to admit not working Sunday nights is the best thing ever!
Having full days to focus on Louy Magroos
is great; I am no longer trying to cram everything in, before wolfing down some dinner at 4 o’clock and dashing out the door.
SO enough with the sentimental walk down memory lane, it’s time to celebrate…
To say thank you to you, and all your support and encouragement over the past couple of years, and to spread the word I am having my very first giveaway YAY!
