Yesterday was Not on The High Streets annual Make Do and Meet, which is a chance for all NOTHS sellers to get together, put faces to twitter names, have a gossip, listen to some inspirational speakers, and celebrate our successes.
I travelled down to London the night before excited for the day but a little nervous about being out of my comfort zone. The day was held at The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, so it felt very special and daunting at the same time.
Every year at the event there is an award ceremony to finish the day. 10 categories ranging from Entrepreneur of the year, to Handmade Product of the Year to Community Ambassador of the year are open for 3500 Noths partners to apply for.
A short list is selected before the big day to just 3 partners per award and this year I am very proud to say I was one of those 3 shortlisted for Storefront Success Award 2013.
I didn’t win the big prize on the day, that deservedly went to Cupcakes For Clara
who has a wonderful style and brand that is perfect for and much loved by NOTHS customers.
My rings where photographed and displayed along side all the other nominees on a huge banner, I don’t think it had really occurred to me how awesome it was until I saw this, and how well I have done to be shortlisted. There were products and businesses alongside mine that I aspire to be like, so I guess I must be doing something right.
Talking to partners whom I had met the year before reminded me that the last time we met I was toying with the idea of giving up my part-time job and concentrating on Louy Magroos full time.
I have come such a long way in this last year, and I think some weeks I forget that actually I am doing a flipping good job, and I shouldn’t beat myself up about the small stuff.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my little business and encouraged me to keep going when I have wanted to give up.
I wonder where Louy Magroos will be this time next year??
